Midtown East Service Stairwell Painting

Manhattan Property Management Full Building Painter

Everyone likes to be in a space with nicely painted walls, even if its main purpose is being a service stairwell – or two of them for this job -- in a 16-story building. This structure dates back 100 years, and while it probably has not been a century since it was painted, it certainly had been decades. Paint and plaster were chipping and required lots of brushing and scraping even before applying heavy coats of plaster.

A specialty bonding primer is called for to assure that the primer and paint adhere successfully – for more decades – to the newly smoothed plaster. Our team painted the full stairs, along with trim, spindles, handrails, steps and some of the floors between staircases. The black railings against eggshell neutral walls and cool gray floors adds an elegance not often found in stairwells. In fact, there are not many readers who would even think there’s an “elegant service stairwell” anywhere in Midtown, but we all now know of two.

Prospect Heights Interior Painting

New homeowners in Prospect Heights wanted to spruce up their living room and this charming, contemporary staircase. Things were kind of gray, and for them, kind of drab. So we happily converted the living room walls from dreary to dreamy with Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace paint. “As delicate and refined as the lace it was named after, this crisp, clean white evokes images of pure silk, soft linen and simpler times.” [Benjaminmoore.com]

Then we turned to this beautiful staircase. Floating staircases like this one maximize open space and offer the illusion of floating steps. It’s a stunning piece coming down to this high quality, hardwood floor. We painted the structural support, hand rail and railing parts, contrasting that with black stair steps on the open risers. We set up scaffolding and ladders often, and we belly crawl like alligators when necessary to make certain every square inch of wall, staircase and trim is painted perfectly. Our paint teams go to all heights and depths to cover all bases, as they say, on every project.

Custom NYC Carpentry

An elegant staircase creates an emotional vibe of sheer grace and grandeur. Wainscoting projects its own version of classic luxury. Renovating one very fine stairway with exceptionally handsome wainscoting results in an interior staircase which becomes enchanting simply to walk up or down. Here, we custom detailed 3-D paneling on the wall adjacent to this stairway.

We added the wood handrail for the safety of those heading down. Then we painted everything else before removing tape, paper, plastic and picking up paint cans, tools and equipment. The rewarding part of leaving one of our job sites is knowing we’ve vastly improved upon what we started with, and the sense of satisfaction in any professional job well-done feels pretty good. Our bonus is when the client feels pretty good about our work, too. That’s a win-win all around.
