Cape May Cobblestone gray satin spray-painted on cabinets, plus new hardware

Cabinet Spraying in Roslyn

Leave it to the Romans, again, to invent something useful like cobblestone streets. In 15th century England, cobblestone roads were built for more reliable road surfaces, and cobblestones came to the U.S. in the 1800s. Most of New York City’s streets once were cobblestone, and some remain today. This is the long introduction to Cape May Cobblestone satin paint from Benjamin Moore that we recently used to transform this dated kitchen into a contemporary, stylish space.

The client waited two years to remodel, and we are thrilled to have been a part of reviving the cabinets with a soft, contemporary gray, especially one with cobblestone in the name. Professional cabinet spraying is a process, and we have the experience and skills to do it clearly, smoothly and correctly the first time every time. We installed the new hardware as well, and once the tile folks return to put up the new backsplash, we think the coffee will smell richer and everything taste delicious in this brilliant, beautiful kitchen. Good things are worth waiting for, they say, and here, it certainly strikes true in the heart of this home.

Old dated cabinets in need of modern color for contemporary style.

Upper East Side Wallpaper Repair

The wall fully restored with wallpaper replaced (as well as the drywall and plaster behind it).

Manhattan Water Damage Restoration

It does not take much moisture finding its way behind wallpaper, paint and/or drywall to wreak havoc with a nice, interior wall. And while the water just silently wiggles its way between layers to cause damage, the restoration is a multi-step process. This lovely, wallpaper and its wall were falling apart when we stepped in to make it like new again.

Once we removed the failing wallpaper, plaster and compromised drywall and let everything dry out naturally, we measured (twice, by the way) and installed new drywall. After plastering that and priming the white wall, we set up for the wallpaper replacement. Given the intricate vine design, it takes a keen eye and steady hand to slice the wallpaper precisely where it will line up seamlessly with its neighboring piece. Now, no one knows there was ever a problem here, except us and the homeowners who had the good sense to call us. And now you know, if you’re reading this blog post.

Manhattan Wall Patching and Drywall Repair

In 1909, an inventive guy named Isaac Shero patented a hair straightener composed of two flat irons heated and pressed together, likely with formerly curly hair between them. The electric flat iron was patented in 1882. Flat irons, many forged by blacksmiths, have been heated on stoves and pressed fabric and clothes smooth for centuries. The Flatiron Building, bounded by 5th Ave., Broadway and East 22nd St., has flat iron characteristics for its triangle design. It was completed in 1902, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989.

The neighborhood anchored by this iconic structure is the Flatiron District, known for trendy everything and the original Shake Shack. Our client here wanted to add paint color before moving in, and asked us to repair a wall where a TV set had been. We cleaned and measured that space, cut drywall to fit, taped it into place and plastered and painted. This wall and all the walls we painted look nice and new for a wonderful welcome to their new nest in the Flatiron District.

Yorkville Painters

The Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan hugs the East River on the east and rests an easy couple blocks walking to Park Avenue. Gracie Mansion, the official home of the mayor, is in Yorkville, along with Carl Schurz Park and the 92nd Street Y. Papaya King, which opened in 1932, is still serving up grilled hot dogs and tropical drinks. High-rise condo buildings offer classy, contemporary cribs, and we recently painted one of these.

A coat of paint does wonders for any interior space (or exterior), and savvy property managers and homeowners who rent out their properties know this well. Thus, we waltzed into one of these Upper East Side condos in between tenants to spruce up the walls. The paint choice was Pink Damask OC-72 from Benjamin Moore’s Off-White Color collection. These walls will wow any prospective tenant for their light, neutral, quietly sophisticated allure. It’s the perfect, serene background for any style of art, décor, fabrics and furnishings.
