Painting Cabinets: Give Your Cabinets A Quick Makeover

Dated dark cabinets got your kitchen or bathroom feeling a bit gloomy? Professionally painting your NYC cabinets can brighten your room, your day, your life! Last month we had another great opportunity to help a homeowner revive her kitchen. The left side of the picture above shows the cabinets before being painted. The cabinets were dark, chipped, stained, and overall showing major wear and tear. Our first step was to remove all doors and front pieces of drawers to be sprayed off site. While the removable pieces were curing after their 1st coat we started to paint the webbing or built-in cabinetry. The client chose White Mountain semi-gloss as the new color. We sprayed 4 coats of Benjamin Moore Cabinet Coat sanding in between each coat to ensure proper curing and coverage of the wood grain. The client was stunned when we returned to reinstall the cabinet doors. She couldn't believe it was the same cabinets! We love painting cabinets in NYC because the transformation is always a fantastic reminder of what can be achieved with the right products and techniques. Local NYC cabinet painting contractors say consider painting before replacing!

Painting The Interior of Brooklyn Private School Poly Prep

Maintaining a school of any size can be quite the challenge with kids and staff running around on a daily basis. When Poly Prep called us it was during their summer break as they were looking to refresh the school before the next school year. The great thing about hiring painting contractors as needed for a facility like this is the flexibility. Whether they want to paint all or part of the school, we are there for them. The above pictures show a recently painted classroom, dance studio, and common area. We fix any wear and tear on the walls and trim before painting with high-traffic paint. We have the scaffolding and experience to complete tricky projects that are typically involved with maintenance painting. Throughout the school's offseason we were always available to prep and paint before the current condition of any wall or ceiling got too bad. This is a beautiful school rich with historic details that need to be maintained and cared for properly. We are honored to work on a school that has impacted lives in the community for over 150 years.

Park Slope Home Painter

Painting in Park Slope is such an exciting experience due the gorgeous and well maintained brownstones that fill this area. We love painting brownstones inside and out. This client contacted us to repaint their garden apartment for their long time renters. The most challenging part was to paint the beautiful molding around the windows. Luckily our team has vast experience painting Park Slope homes. We used a satin finish on the trim and moldings to give it contrast against the matte finished walls. When painting Brooklyn townhouses we have to keep in mind of the historic details. The goal is to highlight the molding not to cover it up. In the end the client and our team was happy with the freshly painted interior.

Jackson Heights Skim Coating and Interior Painting

Jackson Heights is home to many historic residential buildings that are wonderfully built and preserved details. Unfortunately as time goes on and apartments constantly change hands these once fine and beautiful details become lost. Plaster starts to fail, the walls become warped and wonky. Door frames covered in 10+ coats of paint hide the once detailed frame. Good news is that all of this can be fixed. This new homeowner wanted the apartment returned to its original glory and we were happy to help. As professional plasterers and door frame strippers in Queens we immediately knew how to remedy the situation after walking the space. With our Jackson Heights skim coating team in place we began the 4 day process of giving all walls and ceilings of the apartment a Level 4 treatment. Level 4 is 3-4 layers of compound applied to the surfaces to give a smooth look and feel, replacing any current texture. The bottom picture shows a bedroom during the 2nd day of plastering. While the plaster was drying we began the process of stripping all the door frames. Removing years of paint from door frames is an intensive process that takes expertise and patience. Once the paint was removed from the door frames we re-plastered around the frames to make everything look new again. With the plaster dried we sanded all walls and ceilings with fine sandpaper to ensure proper smoothness. We then primed all surfaces to ready them for the finish coats. Using 2 coats of Benjamin Moore Aura we painted the entire apartment. We loved the accent walls and door colors the client chose. Painting the furnace cover a different color from the wall is unique and worked out well. Painting historic Queens Co-ops can be a challenge but it is always worth it. We are thankful for this very involved project and the way the finished place looks.

West Village Apartment Painter

We love painting in the West Village and were excited to paint a large 2 bedroom apartment there in April. The client is an artist who wanted to add some color to her place. We painted multiple accent walls including one behind the piano to give the piano a feel that it was a part  of the wall. The shine of the piano really pops in front of the black matte. We painted the wall directly to the right of the piano to match the fireplace backsplash. It transformed the room. We painted the kitchen with Benjamin Moore Kitchen & Bath black matte to help withstand the heat and other kitchen elements. Overall it was a very fun project. The client is happy after not painting the apartment in over 8 years.
