Upper East Side Wall Covering Installation

Very cool, very unusual wallpaper to spice up a recent renovation.

Manhattan Wallpaper Install

The humble artichoke ranks number one of all veggies in antioxidant count, according to a study by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Additionally, it is a good source of fiber, vitamin C, magnesium, protein, vitamins and minerals. Each one is really a bud in the thistle family, as noted by the little thorn in each leaf which softens with cooking. And if you want to know if you can find artichokes in wallpaper, take a gander at this novel interior. Following a dining room and kitchen remodeling project, the homeowner wished to spice up the entry.

Imagine our surprise and delight to find our job entailed installing wallpaper with artichokes in misty gray and cotton white on a background of deep brick red. Wallpaper can be more economical in the long-term than paint, but hey, there’s no disputing the element of interest here. Some of the challenges in working with wallpaper include cutting, pasting and matching patterns. We use very sharp utility knives, changing out blades as needed, and are cautious not to over-paste, a common error. Our team finds lining up the patterns a somewhat stimulating challenge. You just never know where experienced tradesmen find their kicks. These homeowners are not keeping up with the Joneses. They are the Joneses, raising the bar, setting the standard with this memorable wallpaper.

Brooklyn Paper Hanging

The Manhattan Bridge dates to 1909 and has some real international flair, considering that the arch was modeled after Porte Saint-Denis in Paris and the plaza is like the one around St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City. As the old saw goes, no point in re-inventing the wheel. The neighborhood dubbed DUMBO, for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, features cobblestone streets and beautifully converted warehouse buildings. It is here that a young family is about to welcome a baby and wanted to bring some safari-style wildlife to the home scene.

Wallpapering can be tricky, and we have the perfect, expert team for the job. Walls need to be super smooth, which in our world translates to patching, spackling, sanding, smoothing, inspecting from all angles and applying the correct undercoat product for superior adherence. Application like this requires intricate attention to detail so the back half of a giraffe body in this wallpaper pattern does not butt into a tree or an elephant. It’s a precision kind of job where you cannot afford even a vertical fraction of an inch off or nothing lines up properly. You can see our work here – all the giraffes are whole, like the trees and other creatures. It’s a whimsical wall in a Brooklyn setting with an international splash from another continent.
