Walls provide distinct definition to interior spaces, from dressing rooms and merchandise display sections to bedrooms, dining rooms, dens and closets. One of the most rewarding renovation projects in a store or a home is reconfiguring space by removing and adding walls. 

Caution must be exercised from the outset, as some walls are load bearing and should not be removed or, at the least, could be replaced with appropriate beams or columns. Other walls, referred to as partition walls, are non-essential to structural integrity and can comfortably depart the premises. It’s worth noting that electric wires, cables and pipes are often hidden behind walls and need to be redirected when some walls come down.

Removing walls can completely alter the look and feel inside, offering a more spacious room for store displays, entertaining and relaxing. From there, our expert carpenter team can refinish edges, corners and places where walls used to be, so it looks like everything was built that way in the first place.

Drywall Installation maybe seem like one of those “how hard can it be?” scenarios, but the steps are multiple and begin with carrying 4 x 8’ sheets ½-inch thick into the renovation space. They each weigh about 52 pounds and are incredibly awkward to handle. Our carpenters work together moving them, measuring and placing them and affixing them with the best hardware for the job. There’s usually some definitive cutting to fit, maybe some patching, followed by taping, spackling, sanding, examining, sanding some more and examining again and again until the whole wall is flat and smooth.

Prep for Painting always assures the best outcome. Once the new drywall is smooth and dust-free, it must be primed. This guarantees the paint will adhere correctly and not be disturbed by interior temperature and humidity changes. Other assurances for a superior paint project include using high quality brushes, rollers and paint products, along with expert painters who can cut in edges and know how to apply paint and how many coats are needed.
