Manhattan Steel Structure Painting

Steel support systems are found everywhere in the world with several of them under Manhattan’s many water towers. At 8 pounds per gallon, water is heavy, and steel provides the strength and durability needed as the foundation. Interestingly, steel is the most recycled material in the world, with some 80 million tons per year recycled. It is not much affected by snow loads, high wind, pests or seismic activity, but it does rust with time and weather. This can seriously compromise the strength of steel – it’s most valuable quality. Thus, maintenance is imperative to guard the integrity of the support structure and avoid any catastrophe with the water tank it is holding.

The New School [newschool.edu] contacted us to repair just such a steel structure, and we met this challenge head on. The work would be done some 11 stories high with a glass roof below the job site! Once we constructed the tarp containment so debris would not invade anywhere but directly below, we brought in industrial life harnesses, gear, equipment, tools and supplies. Like cautious acrobats, our workers floated among the steel girders grinding off all the rust particles. Once clean and inspected, all the steel was coated with primer and two layers of industrial finish products. We always love being part of a solution that contributes to the safety and well-being of New York City’s residents, schools, streets and structures.

Industrial Warehouse Painter NY

Industrial warehouses often need to be as clean and orderly as offices and other kinds of work spaces, preserving the contents and improving employee morale. This commercial client rented space which had not been cleaned, painted or maintained for a decade or so. We replaced bulging walls with new sheetrock, taping, plastering and priming it before painting the whole 10,000-square-foot interior. It took us just a few days, ceiling included, and the satisfied customer is now ready to make use of their freshly repaired and painted warehouse.

Interior Spray Paint inside National Historic Landmark

George Washington established the first armory in 1777, and we are downright thrilled to have been contacted for sprucing up the interior of the 69th Regiment Armory on Lexington Ave. in Manhattan. After our normal covering and protecting floors, ourselves and anything not looking for new paint, the Paintworks team assembled the spraying equipment. This is a task requiring connections, air pressure, paint, tubes and nozzles which requires some serious technical expertise. The building was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965, hosts special events and still houses the New York Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, aka the "Fighting Irish". In just two days, it was refreshed to its former industrial glory.

This Manhattan client was looking to refresh their living space going into the Spring and we were happy they called us. We love painting in historic buildings and this building was no exception. Complete with a hand operated elevator this 100+ year old apartment took extra time and attention painting around the original marble fireplace. The room has many large windows and the White Dove color chosen was a perfect fit with the walls and moldings. Being a painting contractor in the Gramercy Park neighborhood we greatly enjoy painting on Lexington Avenue, Park Avenue, and surrounding streets.

Painting Industrial Warehouses in Long Island City

The industrial scene was already burgeoning in Long Island City well before the announcement of the new Amazon headquarters. With quick access to Manhattan, Bronx, and Queens, Long Island City is an ideal place to have an industrial or commercial facility.

Paintworks and Decorating has painted many warehouses in L.I.C. We had an especially good time helping to refresh this warehouse used by a telecommunications company. The warehouse was looking grungey as the walls were dirty with years of work and very little cleaning. There was failing paint everywhere. Using multiple high powered spray machines and scissor lifts we were able to renew the warehouse with fresh paint very quickly.
