Kitchen Updates by Experts

There are many ways to add a stunning focal point to an outfit, the front of a house or an interior room. Being the proverbial heart of the home, the kitchen can be the most used, most visited, most popular room in any residence. In many such spaces, one looks around everywhere without really resting on one clever thing, then pivoting to take in the rest of the décor and function. Not so in this Chappaqua kitchen. The Town of New Castle along the Hudson River includes the enclave of Chappaqua, a Native Indian word for “a place where nothing is heard but the rustling of wind in the leaves.” The shorter version is “the rusting land.”

Once on site, our crew removed and discarded the old backsplash, careful to protect everything around the space during the demo work. Once out of the way, we cleaned and installed new cement board before custom cutting these gorgeous tiles. Our expert tile guys installed each one perfectly to the high quality standards which every Paintworks team brings to every project. Talk about a stunning focal point in this kitchen – here it is!

Queens Kitchen Renovation

Of the many ways to spruce up a home, kitchen remodeling is one of the premier projects for pure enjoyment, potential energy savings, enhanced lifestyle and increased property value. And diving into the whole enchilada can deliver a much-needed update for the residents, adjoining spaces and food and drink prep in a way nothing else can. We headed into this Queens kitchen with marching orders to gut everything including the kitchen sink. We cleared the space, tore up the flooring and began the prep work for this sharp black and white contemporary kitchen.

Our team put down a classy charcoal color tile floor first, then we installed new white cabinetry with simple brushed nickel knobs. After the fabricator laid the sleek black countertops, we planned, spaced and positioned a stylish subway tile backsplash. The  Paintworks crew wheeled in and hooked up all the appliances, picked up our stuff and admired this newly renovated kitchen. The homeowners are thrilled with the outcome, and while the restaurants in Queens span the globe for tasty culinary selections, these folks might want to dine in using their neat new kitchen.

Queens Tile Contractor

Queens is an eclectic blend of diverse neighborhoods, great sports, arts and culture and cool dining spots, craft brew and interesting shops. In its midst, a family new to the area needed a kitchen renovation, and we were excited to tackle this project. The first task at hand is always to protect adjacent spaces and floors. Then we removed the entire old kitchen and carted the stuff away. Two-tone cabinets are gaining in popularity, so we installed the lower wood ones and upper white ones, both sporting glamorous bronze hardware.

Installing the new herringbone pattern backsplash was an exercise in intricate measurements, custom tile cutting all along the way and exact placement to achieve the overall sleek look. Tools included a laser level, but the steady hand of experience and keen eye for details can be credited with this result. Cutting tile is not for the faint-hearted or amateur. It is all about precision especially at the lower and upper edges where it has to look like the pattern simply continues on up and down behind the cupboards. The family is very pleased with their new kitchen to enjoy and new neighborhood to explore.

West Village Kitchen Stone Accent Wall

West Village is lauded for its architecture, shade trees, cobblestone streets, Federal-style townhouses, enchanting shops and trendy restaurants. The Wine Hut, Spirits of Carmine and Pop the Cork Wine Merchants are faves for beer, wine and spirits, while Anine Bing and Castor & Pollux are don't-miss boutiques. It is sophisticated and edgy, classy and funky, akin to a stunning stacked stone interior wall that Paintworks & Decorating recently installed in a West Village kitchen.

Also called ledge stone, this horizontal rock installation backs into weep screed or metal lath and takes a knowledgeable crew and finely-tuned hands to prep the wall, manage the adhesive and place the stones precisely where they will each complement one another in the overall scheme. Stonework is sophisticated for its timeless appeal. It is, after all, one of the oldest materials on earth and comes in myriad shapes, colors and textures. It is edgy to integrate stacked stone into a modern kitchen. Classy applies comfortably to all natural rock formations, and the ledge stone with its rough 3-D edges projects a funky kind of wow factor. Paintworks also laid new flooring, strategically placing it down before building the stacked stone wall above it. When a creative wave of interior upgrades strikes your fancy, remember that Paintworks & Decorating, based in Manhattan, can guide your whims and deliver impressive results.
